Bird Watching

The group meets Monthly on the Third Monday from 09.30am for car sharing.
Several members of the West Midland Bird Club have volunteered to act as guides on our field trips to help locate and identify the birds. At Blithfield in February we benefited from their powerful telescopes to ensure the best possible views of the birds as well as a wealth of extra information about the various species. The trips are usually on the 3rd Monday morning of each month but different Mondays in two Spring months have been chosen to increase our chances of seeing certain species.

  • Monday 23 April - Coombes Valley, RSPB site near Leek for Spring migrants.
  • Monday 14 May - Cannock Chase for warblers and bird song
  • Monday 18 June - evening visit to Cannock Chase for night jar and woodcock

The group offers a great opportunity to enhance birdwatching knowledge for both novice and experienced birdwatchers alike.

New members are welcome to join the group, whether experienced or inexperienced bird watchers.
