Discovering Maths

The group meets Monthly on the First Friday from 14.00 to 16.00

The group covers a wide range of Maths-related topics in a hopefully, not too academic fashion.

Recently we have looked at the maths behind medical imaging, the maths of how crowds move and how life can evolve, using a simple chess board and counters. There will be a trip to Birmingham in September for a couple of lectures about unsolved problems in Maths and the maths of risk-taking.

We will also be arranging a trip to the MathsJam conference held at Yarnfiel over the weekend of 17/18 November.

Sometimes we have a light-hearted maths quiz, where everyone is encouraged to bring in a couple of maths teasers for the group to solve.

New members are made welcome and you do not require a degree in maths! Having moved to a larger room, we have lots of space.
